4-H Archery in Tennessee: Learn More than just the Mechanics of Hitting the Target

4-H Archery teaches both archery safety and shooting technique - but that's not all. Being part of the 4-H Archery Club teaches boys and girls ages 9-19 life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, record keeping and self discipline. Club members can compete in archery at the state level at the end of the season. High school students shooting recurve or compound bows (but not the Genesis youth bow) also have the opportunity to qualify for a spot on the Tennessee state team that will compete at the National 4-H Shooting sports Invitational in June.

Through participation in 4-H, youth have the opportunity to learn skills such as public speaking, leadership and how to create and give a public presentation. They can compile their records to create a 4-H portfolio, due in the spring semester, which allows their hard work on their project to be recognized. 4-Hers have the opportunity to attend conferences and events held locally, regionally or at the state level.
